10 Things I Love About Christmas

Blogmas Day Six is here, and today I bring you a super simple, short post about the things I love about Christmas. As a reader, these posts are some of my favorites because it let’s me get to know the blogger better, and I think it’s fun to see what other people enjoy about the holidays! I hope you enjoy this little snippet of my favorite things about Christmas!

1. Christmas lights

My absolute favorite part about Christmas time is all of the beautifully decorated houses. Every year I will have my boyfriend drive me around to all the fancy neighborhoods and we’ll spend an evening looking at all of the immaculately decorated houses. The creativity is so inspiring, and the light displays are just beautiful. Nothing puts me in a more of a Christmas spirit.

2. Baking

There is nothing better than the warm, delicious scent of goodies being cooked in your oven. To me, that smell always reminds me of Christmas, which is why I absolutely love baking this time of the year. I love trying new recipes, and I’ll try anything – cookies, cakes, breads, pies, fudge – you name it, I’ve baked it. It puts me in such a festive mood and I love giving out the goodies as gifts to my friends, family, and co-workers.

3. Decorating

Decorating my house for Christmas puts me in a such a festive, cheery mood. I love coming up with new displays, and it’s so fun to be reminded of Christmas wherever I walk in my house. On the years I don’t decorate I can never quite get in the Christmas spirit, so I really try hard to make time for it every year.

4. Snow

Where I live, the first big snow of the year usually comes right around Christmas time, and I love how it makes the whole mood feel like a Hallmark movie. I know it’s cheesy, but what better time to be cheesy than Christmas time?

5. Gift-giving

Do you have that person in your family or group of friends that absolutely nails your Christmas present every year? That is the person I strive to be. There is no better feeling than getting someone you care about the gift they’ve always wanted, without them having to tell you what it is. I live for the look of surprise and happiness that comes across their face.

6. Christmas movies

Okay, another cheesy one, but come on, who can go a Christmas season without watching a single Christmas movie? Not me, that’s for sure. With the sun setting so early, there is plenty of time to light the fireplace, make some cocoa, and snuggle in for a Christmas movie night. It may be corny, but it’s a great time.

7. Christmas Crafts

As you have all seen in my Blogmas day two post, I love DIY crafts, and there are so many ideas out there for Christmas crafts that I just can’t resist trying some every year. Most of them just include using materials around your house, and it’s a great way to spend some time with your family or friends that doesn’t involve going out or spending money. Plus it’s good for the environment to re-purpose items that you were probably just going to throw away.

8. Christmas parties

I won’t be going to any parties this year, but I can’t wait for when I can again. I love getting dressed up and mingling with my friends (and maybe getting a little tipsy off eggnog). It puts me in a great mood and really lifts my spirits.

9. Santa hats/ Ugly Sweaters/ Christmas Pajamas

Christmas apparel puts me in such a festive mood, I can’t even explain it. The cheesiness of an ugly Christmas sweater (I mean, did you see my Fitmas Tree Video?) never fails to make me laugh, and wearing Santa hats and pajamas and slippers makes for great photos and always puts me in a Christmas mood. In my family we have a tradition of buying each other a set of Christmas PJ’s that we all open on Christmas Eve, and then we wear them Christmas morning and it’s just so fun and all of our pictures always come out so cute!

10. Christmas Morning

Waking up on Christmas morning is the best feeling in the world. I always have this little bubble of excitement in my tummy, and everyone is always relaxed and in such a great mood that it’s hard to not feel in the Christmas spirit.

    1. I am the kind of person that only loves snow on Christmas day; if I didn’t have to see it for the rest of the year I’d be A-Okay, but there’s something about it on Christmas that makes the day better! Thanks so much for reading!

  1. Eggnog is one of my favorite drinks! We make a big batch of it by hand come Christmas evening. 🙂
The baking and gift giving aspect is also delicious; it is as much fun for me to give as it is to receive.
    Thanks for sharing!
