7 Best Feel-Good Christmas Movies to Watch this Season

Welcome to Blogmas Day Seven! This post is not my typical content, but I wanted to share with you guys some of my favorite Christmas movies that continue to make me feel good every single time I watch them. Whether they make you laugh or cry, all of these movies are pretty much guaranteed to uplift your spirits and get you into the Christmas mood!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)

I know this will cause some debate, but the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the animated version) is my number one Christmas movie. Don’t get me wrong, I like the Jim Carrey version also, but it doesn’t have the re-watch ability that the classic version has. I love this film because it’s short and sweet, and it never fails to put a smile on my face.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Another must-watch ever single year, A Charlie Brown Christmas is also at the top of my list for favorite Christmas movies. It just brings back all the excitement from when I was a kid and I couldn’t wait for Santa to come the next morning. It’s one of those movies that you just can’t be in a bad mood after you finish watching it.

Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

Okay, if you haven’t seen Miracle on 34th Street, I don’t know how you have made it through a single Christmas. This movie confused me a lot when I was a kid, but when I got older and I watched it, I couldn’t help but enjoy it. It’s funny, heartwarming, and it’s a classic, so if you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend you put it on your list this year.

It’s a Wonderful Life(1946)

This one is my dad’s absolute favorite Christmas movie, and I’m putting it on my favorites list because it is such a heartwarming story. It’s one of those that will probably make you cry, but it has such a good ending and it sends such a positive message that you won’t be sad for long.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964)

I mean, it’s the story of the most famous reindeer of all, how could you not love this movie? As a kid this was my favorite Christmas movie (I would watch it like 6 times every year), and as an adult I have to watch it at least once every year. It’s super cheesy and the animation is old-school, but I love all the characters and the nostalgic feeling I get whenever I watch it.

Elf

Elf is the only modern movie I’ve included in this list, and it’s because this movie has it all. It’s funny, it’s feel-good, it’s festive, and it has Will Ferrel thinking he’s an elf; what more could you ask for? This movie has quickly become a must-watch for the Christmas season, and I am so happy that’s the case, because I absolutely love this movie.

Nightmare Before Christmas

This one is up for debate, because it makes both a great Christmas and Halloween movie, but because I love this movie so much, I’ll take any excuse to watch it. I’d argue that it has kind of a creepy vibe to it which makes it more Halloween, but I also think there are some Christmas feels in there that will still put you in a festive mood. The characters are all fantastic, the songs are great, and it always makes me laugh; I could not make it through a Christmas season without watching this film.

I hope you all love these recommendations! Let me know your favorite Christmas movies in the comment section below, and be sure to subscribe to the blog so you never miss a post again! I fell a bit behind with my Blogmas posts, but this weekend I’ll have a new post up every day in order for me to catch up, so be on the lookout for those! 1. Definitely gonna have to disagree with the Jim Carry Grinch because you know how much I love that movie but that’s okay because I love you too and I can forgive you! 🥰 So glad I get to spend the week leading up to Christmas with daily blog posts from my best friend!!

  2. Hi Lex,

A mixed bag there from my perspective:
    * A Charlie Brown Christmas. How have I missed this? Will certainly be adding this to my ‘must watch’ list.
    * It’s a Wonderful Life. My wife’s favourite Christmas film and, consequently, one that we have watched quite a few times.
    * Elf. I hate this film with the intensity of a thousand burning suns!! How’s that for getting into the Christmas spirit? I just find Will Ferrel so irritating I can’t stand to watch anything that he does.

My favourite Christmas movie has to be Die Hard 🙂

  3. These are all the classics of my childhood… except for Elf, but I wish I had that one as a kid. The only one missing for me is A Christmas Story. I watch that one every year. Feel-good movies are what I REALLY need this year. Great list!

  4. How was a Charlie Brown Christmas not on my list or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer! I loved watching both when I was younger, and it became a tradition when I went back home for Christmas. The Nightmare Before Christmas is an excellent film, and I watch it for both seasons. Thank you for sharing such a festive and fun list! 😊
